It’s been 11 years since we’ve opened the doors at Strategic Philanthropy (gasp!). I remember that 29 year old fondly. She was tough (or so she thought), a go-getter and felt like she had to do it all on her own. This past year, my husband and I welcomed our second child to this world in January 2022 so you can imagine that the year started off with a bang. However, 11 years later, with some lessons under my belt, I have a team a rockstars that show me daily that I cannot do it alone. They are able to manage a slew of projects and tasks and do it with passion, purpose and an innate sense to do good work for the company, our clients and most importantly, our community.
Each year, I have the team (6 of us and counting!) step back from the to-do lists and emails to take a look at what all we’ve been able to accomplish to help our clients “do good” throughout these last 11 years. It’s this time every year, where I feel so proud of what we’ve built, what we’ve helped our clients accomplish and how we’ve impacted the communities where we live, work and play.
Most importantly, we left behind the daunting mantra of the pursuit of perfection (which doesn’t exist and can drive everyone mad) and pursued excellence instead. This shift in mindset has taught all of us high-performing achievers and type A-ers that we should be always growing, learning and fine tuning the process (personally & professionally).
Thank you to our clients who have become good friends and the select few who have been part of our team throughout the years who have each helped us get to where we needed to go. Thank you to the many of you who have coached us, referred us business, shared ideas or opportunities, helped us find teammates or shared/liked a posts. It all matters.
